Ontario Liberal $10,000 Tax Credit for New Immigrants -

The Ontario Liberal Party wants to offer a $10,000 tax credit to businesses that hire new immigrants to Canada.  This is a slap in the face to generations of Canadians.  I am not against immigration, although I believe we are to lax in some of our rules.  We talk about equality and fairness, but this is completely  unfair and bias.  Make the tax credit available to any business that hires any Canadian... skilled or unskilled.  This is just an election ploy to get immigrants to vote Liberal.  Although I voted Liberal the last provincial election, I will not be voting liberal this time.

For the record, you are supposed to be a Canadian Citizen to vote in elections, many are not.  I have worked both provincial and federal elections, and many people who are not Canadian citizens have gotten cards to vote. How can this be?

Before any immigrant gets any benefit from our system, country, province, muncipality, they should have to become a Canadian citizen.. it's not that hard.. it's a lot harder in the United States or Austrailia... which is where we may want to consider moving to if this keeps up.... if we can get in...

Let's make tax credits that hire people available to all Canadians... not just new ones... especially ones that are not Canadian citizens yet...

Foreign Exchange Trading - Forex Trading - Experience So Far

After an initial bad experience last year, I started foreign exchange trading again in March of this year with an alternative investment program.  In my initial investment of $4,900, I have made $700 dollars in less than 4 months.  To me this is an amazing return.  My mutual funds are just getting back to where they were 4 years ago.

Foreign exchange should not be your total investment program, but 5 to 10 percent of your investment portfolio is acceptable.

The company I am working with is coming up to Toronto, Ontario to do seminars on their alternative investment program.  If you are interested in attending these free information sessions, let me know and I can pass on your information.

A Special Karaoke Show at the Ajax Legion Tonight

For a Friday of a long weekend we had a good crowd for Karaoke tonight.  About 24 singers.

One of the reasons the crowd was good tonight was Matt.  Matt leaves on Thursday to Afghanistan where he will serve his country for 10 months.  His friends and family were all there tonight to sing and celebrate his service.  The crowd was pretty taken with this very nice young man as well.

I can't imagine how his parents feel.  To worry about your son every day for 10 months must be nerve racking.  You would be so proud of him, but part of you would wish he was not going.

Anyways, everyone had a great time and everyone was wishing Matt a safe return and telling him thank you for what he is doing.

Thank you Matt.. and God speed - get home safe.

Body Checking in Minor Hockey

Recently it was reported that the Ontario Hockey Foundation has decided to remove all body checking in all minor hockey in Ontario, Canada.

I think this is a big mistake.

Having been someone that started playing organized at 6 years old, I had to start off playing kids that were as old as 9.  Body checking was allowed so I had to learn how to give and take it or probably have a hard time   Coaches back then spent a lot of time showing you how to check, how to take a check, and how to protect yourself from being checked or hurt.  I'm pretty sure they still do.

But now, for house league and select leagues of all ages, this will not be allowed, so it won't probably be taught.  This will be a big mistake.  Even with no checking, situation will arise where contact will happen, and if kids don't know how to go into the board or corners and such, they will get hurt.

Also, we are weaking the skills of our hockey players in Canada.  Players will not be taught an essential skill until they somehow get out of house league.

They don't have much chance of making rep teams either at any time in their career.  If they are late bloomers at stick handling and skating, even if they develop those skills well, they will be really lacking due to no body checking experience.

Chances for house league players making the major junior, semi pro, and pro leagues are pretty slim as well.  You are basically making that you HAVE to play rep to make it.  If you are a player that has the talent, but the family that does not have the money for rep, you are screwed.

Hockey is, was, and always should be a contact sport.  It's a real shame and we will suffer our status as a leader in years to come.  I wonder what Don Cherry would say?
